With success comes new opportunities. A bittersweet moment for us as Kerri Gallagher moves on to the next level with a new sponsor that will support her toward her future dreams.
She stormed into our consciousness as a poised and fierce racer, a gracious interviewee, and our favorite underdog. It seems like it has been forever since Kerri joined our team but in actuality it's been a year. She gained fitness and momentum last fall and winter racing at the Armory Invite, Millrose Games, The Grand Blue Mile, and really started lighting the track up at the Penn Relays with a win in the Olympic Development Mile.
In the 1500 meters she progressed steadily through outdoor season from a 4:18 in April to a 4:08 in June at the prelims of the US Championship and finishing 3rd place. In Europe her fire continued to burn stronger with a 4:03 in Lignano, Italy to secure her spot at the World Championship. Underdog no more!
With several of our Haute Volée athletes when their success takes them to the next level sometimes that means we have to say goodbye. What a journey you have been on and will continue to have this year. We are so thrilled for you as you embark on your next chapter, and we will always be proud to be a part of your story. Through all the ups and downs this year, the positivity and encouragement never ceased. Core Routine For Runners: The Dozen
I was introduced to the "The Dozen" in the winter of 2012 by my favorite Oregon running family. I love this set of core exercises for its efficient targeting of core muscle groups, and because no gym equipment is required! You can do this on a grass field, in your hotel room, or really anywhere you can lay on a flat surface.
Reflecting on the Year of the Underbird
This past August, we launched our Year of the Underbird program: an open application for aspiring Olympic Trials marathoners, with a promise to select 5 women for a 6 month contract encompassing a stipend, gear, storytelling, and community support. As we reach the end of our flight with our selected athletes, we invited each of them to share a few reflections on their past 6 months as teammates.

We invited each of them to reflect on their journeys through sport: how their identity has affected their development, and how they hope to impact the rising generation of athletes.
