Throughout the month of October, we’re celebrating runners who give back. We are incredibly proud to work with Every Mother Counts and Girls Gotta Run during this month to raise awareness for maternal health, and to honor International Day of the Girl on October 11th. Wherever your running takes you, remember it’s easy to make every mile count – and to get involved!

Every Mother Counts

For two good years, we’ve partnered with Every Mother Counts, a non-profit organization dedicated to making pregnancy and childbirth safe for every mother. 287,000 girls and women around the world die every year from complications in pregnancy and childbirth, yet up to 98% of these deaths can be prevented with proper care. Every Mother Counts and Team EMC constantly inspire us in their work to raise awareness for maternal health – logging miles to make a difference.

This season, Team EMC has been logging miles and raising money in preparation for the Chicago Marathon on October 12th and the New York City Marathon on November 2nd! We have been watching Rebekah MacKay, Catherine Haggerty, Paulette Ference and other runners train hard and raise money for Every Mother Counts over the past few months. For each runner, Oiselle donates a kit of apparel for their dedication. See how you can run with Team EMC or donate to individual runners reaching their goals.

Insider tip for Every Mother Counts fans…don’t forget to look on oiselle.com early next week for the launch of our brand new Every Mother Counts Collection! 40% of proceeds go directly to benefit programs Every Mother Counts supports around the world.

Girls Gotta Run Foundation

In celebration of International Day of the Girl on October 11th, we’re teaming up with Girls Gotta Run to celebrate the strength and courage of girls around the globe. The Girls Gotta Run Foundation invests in girls who use running and education to empower themselves and their communities. Last year, we partnered with Girls Gotta Run to organize a sports bra drive for girl runners in Ethiopia. In just a few weeks, we collected nearly 300 new and lightly used sports bras for the girls who participate in their running programs in Ethiopia. This year we are continuing the support. Follow the hashtag #idg2014 and hang out with us on social media October 11th for something special happening!

 Charity Miles

If you have never used the Charity Miles App, use this month as a challenge to run for the charity of your choice. Using the app, every mile you log on the run automatically donates $0.25 to the charity of your choice – $0.10 for every mile you bike. Grab your phone and turn on the Charity Miles app when you head out the door. There are a variety of charities to choose from including Every Mother Counts.
