OG DISTANCE SHORTS
The Distance Shorts are a fan favorite! A classic running short made from our lightweight woven, in brilliant colors, with two zip pockets—ready to stash and carry—plus a beautiful shaped leg opening and tonal feather arrow print. As many will attest, this design goes the distance, any distance.
- Distance Woven (polyester)
- tonal feather art on side panels
- infinity drawcord
- built-in technical liner
- side zip pocket
- rear zip pocket
- 3.25" inseam (all sizes)
I had a pair of the original Distance Shorts from 2012 that I LOVED and wore to death. These new ones are just not the same. The material feels stiff and awkward. The drawstring is totally ineffective. And they run larger than the old ones (I put the Size 2 I ordered had at least an extra inch on the waste band than the old XS I had). I'm returning them :(
The shorts fit really well and were comfortable. The hem was a tiny bit short when I would pick up my knees, but I never felt like I was falling out of them.
The only drawback for me is that the picket in the back isn’t large enough for a phone. I guess that would make sense seeing as it’s a looser, flouncier silhouette than say the Rogas.
But they’re great!
I loved these shorts (and the distance shorts with the print) last year. They were my go tos. This year, I'm not sure what happened to the sizing. This year's size 2 (maroons) is bigger than last year's size 4 (blue), and not even close to last year's size 2 (orange).
Bummed that I'll have to find a different go to short!
I have many pairs of distance shorts and was excited to try the new summer 2020 colors. While the lapis and queen are super pretty and vibrant, I’m disappointed to report that the fit is totally off. I always get a 6 in roga, banana split, and distance shorts. Since this year’s roga legs ride up and are too tight in the quads, I was hoping the distance shorts would fill the gap. Unfortunately the 6 in these is huge on me. I held them up to pairs from last year and prior and there’s at least an inch difference in the waistband and the legs. I would bet they’re at least 1 size too big. This is honestly my number one complaint with Oiselle - the sizing and fit inconsistencies just make it so hard to find a good fit, are frustrating for customers, and for $50+ shorts it’s unreasonable to expect customers to play the sizing game every year. Please please work on quality and consistency! These shorts have been a favorite for years.
So happy my normal size 6 fits again! Last year the waistband was so snug, I’m thrilled these fit like my older ones so I can buy more and be confident they’ll fit. Oiselle, please don’t change a thing. These shorts are amazing for long distance, they keep you covered but they’re short enough and roomy enough to not get in the way or bunch up
I bought a pair a few years ago because I love the “retro” look. Also, the waistband helps the shorts stay put on my runs. Unfortunately, I’ve gained some weight since buying them so I thought I would get a new pair in a larger size; had a 6 and sized up to an 8. I just received the new ones and boy, they run pretty large! The 8s feel more like a 10, I should have stayed with a 6 and they would have been fine due to them running larger. I expected the new ones to be bigger, obviously, but they are a few inches bigger, more than I’d expect. I will keep the new, larger ones for weight lifting, but not for running because they’ll keep falling down. I think even using the drawcord, they’ll be too big to run in, too bad!
I am 5'5" and 120-125# with a totally average build. According to size charts I should wear a 6 but I own other Oiselle bottoms and knew to size down. The size 4 in these shorts were enormous... they looked and felt at least 2-3 sizes too big with SO MUCH fabric in the legs -- it looked like I was wearing a billowy skirt. I am baffled by Oiselle's inability to get their sizing dialed in from product to product. For such a tremendous organization with such a smart team I would expect much more consistency in product delivery. Am exchanging for a size 2 and will update once I see how those fit.
I’ve been running since 1994 and these are my favorite shorts ever made. I have a pair of actual OG distance shorts from when the brand first started marketing to run specialty stores and gave me a pair to test. 12 years later and I still wear that pair at least once a week in the summer with no visible breakdown in the material.
This is what I will say about the fit. It’s NOT a slim fit short. They are meant to be baggy. Think about those super flowy xc uniform shorts or those old Nike Tempo shorts. Combine the two and give them superior materials and fit and you have the Distance short. Baggy, comfortable, feels mostly like your not wearing shorts. I have thighs that rub together and I use chafing gel on them to prevent excessive rubbing and riding up. Personally I find this to be superior to short tights. Hope this helps!
