Our brilliant designer Katie Dazell, took the lead on Oiselle swim in 2014. She comes to us from the land of lingerie and her obsession with cut, fit, and function created the Oiselle Swim we are proud to bring you. As final steps of swim wrapped up this spring, Katron visited our factory in Costa Rica to get hands-on. Making sure every detail is perfect is essential to running apparel and, of course, swim. Follow along with Katron as she journeys to Costa Rica!
After a year of working on our new swimwear collection, a trip to our factory partners in Costa Rica allowed us to bring the final stages of the production process to you. Working with our partners via countless email and online communication has brought us this far, but it is a treat to finally meet and work together side by side. Here’s a little behind the scenes peek into the process!
The morning drive to the garment factory.
The sewing floor… Each employee manages a different step of the construction process, from cutting fabric and stitching bindings, all the way to bar tacking seams and packing the finished product.
The details… It’s all in the details, even the ones you won’t see.
Size grading and pattern pieces. We went through all the patterns to make sure all cut pieces are measuring to spec and looking good before they hit the sewing floor.
Label placement… a seemingly minor, but important detail to the process. We go through each style to make sure all care/content and branding labels are placed just right!
The quality control area… where each and every finished garment is inspected for correct seams, loose threads, and accurate measurements before packing.
Hangtag placement… the final step before packing, and a brand new hangtag designed just for swim!
Our amazing partners… who bring it all to life!
A mountain range, river, and farmland make for a scenic backyard! One of our partners takes me on a hike through their property behind the factory. The love, respect, and care our factory partners have for the people and their land is truly inspiring.
I also had a little downtime, and got to spend my birthday exploring more of this beautiful country. My favorite parts…
Sloths…enough said!
Tarzan vines…the jungle swing.
Beautiful sunsets never get old.
Thanks for coming along! And we're proud to present Oiselle swim.
