Running and reading, my two loves. Reading about running? Yes, please. Though I’ll admit it’s not a genre I’ve spent extensive time in. So when Sally and I talked about starting the Long Distance Reading Club, on the long run of course, we decided to start at the start. "Once a Runner" by John L. Parker, Jr. Neither of us had picked this book up, and surprisingly no one at HQ had read it either. But it’s on every list of ‘must read running books’ and some see it as the north star of all running literature. Or, is it the musty dusty book from the patriarchal canon that's ready for fresh analysis and possible ousting. As a new kind of women's book club, hey, it's up to us!

Either way, we decided it was time to read it for ourselves and it would be a natural place to kick off the Oiselle book club.
