My race day warm up needs to be layered. I like layers that are easy to peel off as I warm up in preparation for the race. That way I can start toasty warm and then shed as my body temperature rises. Easy on and easy off layers are a must in case I decide to throw something back on.
This outfit is perfect for that. The Gilman Vest provides some wind protection, but can easily taken off. I always like a tank under my long sleeve for right before the start when I’ve started sweating but don’t want to be in just my racing top yet. The Fall Tank is the perfect wicking base layer and I added the breathable Voltage Long Sleeve on top of that.
And the KG Tights have zippers, which make them easy to peel off right before the start, right over my flats. With the zipper I am able to keep them on longer because they will come off over any shoe.
The key is staying warm but not too hot before the gun goes off. This Sunday I'll be racing the Twin Cities 10 Mile. Next up is Big Sur Half Marathon on November 8th. Looking forward to putting my training to the test.
