We all love that quote, "How to get a bikini body? Put a bikini on your body."

So why was I still standing in front of a mirror with insecurities blaring every time I got ready for a pool party? Not enough booty coverage on that one. Boobs falling out all my tops. This waistband gives me muffin top. Shit.

I hadn’t bought a new bikini in seven years. Not for lack of trying. I couldn't find one that fit right. But I figured that I only swam a couple times a year. And even though I was uncomfortable while on the water, always tugging on the suits or moving slower to prevent wardrobe malfunctions, I thought it was OK. But I didn’t realize how much summer fun I was missing out on.

But my bikini draught ended with the debut of Roga Swim. Praise be. Oiselle sent me the Roga Swim top and bottom in Pine/Cinder. OK, are you sitting down for this? It actually fit my body.

I think I’ve racked up more hours and outings in the water this summer than I did in the last seven years. And I've been having so much more carefree fun.

I was able to get different sizes for the top and bottom, to find the perfect fit. The top actually held me in, and the bottom covers my whole butt. Imagine. The pieces are made to move -- running, jumping, or splashing; They stay put. I appreciate the suit's classic style. It's not blingy. It's sexy, but subtle. Vintage, but a bit modern. And it's reversible, which is good, because after I started rocking it, I noticed something funny happening...

More and more opportunities to wear the bikini presented themselves. There was that baby shower / pool party combo. A freezing dip in the lake in Oregon. Stand-up paddle boarding paired with a hiking adventure. My friend’s birthday on a boat. SUPing happy hours with my coworkers. Playing at the pool with my little nieces and nephew for the first time.

I think I’ve racked up more hours and outings in the water this summer than I did in the last seven years. And I've been having so much more carefree fun.

Instead of reaching for my cover-up, I’m wearing my bikini for the whole dang party. I’m jumping off the top of the boat twice. I’m doing a last minute dunk before we leave. I’m saying Yes to every water-related invitation. I’m in the water as much as I want, because it’s easy now, and it just feels better.

So is it the suit?

I’m not sure. In fact, I’m not really thinking about what I’m wearing anymore.

I’m too busy having fun.
