I had been eyeing this vest for a few seasons and I'm so happy I finally caved and purchased. I wish I had bought it sooner! It is a fantastic piece for cooler weather. It's just the right layering piece for cool days, providing a perfect amount of protection to keep my core warm and toasty. While not explicitly advertised as a waterproof, my phone stayed totally dry in the pocket when I was caught out in an unpredicted rain storm. I haven't had to use the arm band strap yet, since I've found adjusting the zipper works well to help me control my temp. Fun fact about the arm band: I find that when I slip my phone through it inside the pocket my phone doesn't bounce around while running.
Sizing: I'm 5'8" and about 155 and the large fits comfortably loosely on me, with plenty of room for layers underneath. A medium would fit my torso, but probably be just a little snug around my hips.
I just got this and really like it for layering during my PNW winter runs! I run at night and got the black; even with the reflective bits I kind of wish I had gotten a different color to be brighter when running at night.
Sizing info: I'm 5'7", ~175lbs, and ordered a L because I like my tops to be loose fitting (ex: I'm a size 8 in Oiselle bras but like my shirts loose, so I get 10s in most tops). The vest is maybe a bit large around the armpits for me but I don't mind the looser fit.
I love love love this vest for it's lightweight feel but yet it kept me warm and dry on long PNW rainy runs. Fit was great. I also really liked the portability of being able to fold it up if I got too hot. Just be forewarned, read the label and DO NOT PUT IT IN THE DRYER. I accidentally did and it melted the zipper off. A very expensive mistake.
I recently made this purchase for the vest and SO HAPPY that I did! I got it to wear as an extra layer over long sleeves during those cooler mornings. So far it has just what I needed. I wear it over my Flyte long sleeves in 25-40 degrees; provides enough warmth and easy to take off and carry in your hand if you get too warm. I love the simple reflection elements so you can be seen in the dark; forest green is a 'beautiful color. I got a size small; I'm 120 lbs and 5' 8" fit is perfect--fitted but not tight. Will be a running staple for me this fall, winter, and spring.
I'm in love with this vest. It's so lightweight you almost forget you have it on, but it really helps cut down any wind or chill you might run into on your fall and winter runs (I live in the mid-atlantic region). I love how easy it is to fold it up into its pocket and carry with the strap if I get too hot, but honestly haven't had to do that much since it's pretty easy to regulate your temp by just unzipping the vest a bit.
I have this in black and ordered a second hoping it was more orange. It is red. For the price, not worth keeping unless I love it 100%. I agree with the other review that the reflective strip is on the wrong side for running against traffic. I like the thin material as it is just enough to keep my core warm and help with the light rain. I am 5'8" and curvy. The medium fit snug so I got the large to be able to layer under and it works well.
Reflective accents should reflect the body part closest to traffic. If on the front (and not universal print) should be on the right side of the body, not the left. (if on the back, the opposite)
I wore this pretty much every morning while training for a marathon through a New England winter and it was exactly what I needed. Warm tights, long sleeves, and this vest was my uniform for the 20 degree dark morning runs. Never too warm or too cold. I tend to get very warm once I get started, even when it's below freezing, so I can't usually wear a jacket (the exception this year was the -20 wind chill on one run). Originally bought a small but exchanged for XS so it would be more snug over a base layer. If you plan on wearing this over more than one layer it's true to size. Reflective touches are nice but I would have like a bit more since this is definitely a winter item for me and will nearly always be worn in the dark!
