Hi friends! Welcome back to another fun "Who Is" series. This week we're profiling our new Volée team leader Carolyn Gardner also know as @weegngr on social media. Carolyn actually just relocated from Los Angeles to join our Oiselle team. Wow! Talk about being down for an adventure. Welcome to the team, Carolyn! We're beyond delighted to have you.

I met up with Carolyn shortly before we were all quarantined or asked to shelter in place due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. So obviously we had to get her take on the situation.

What are your thoughts on Coronavirus?
During times like this, people need to feel connected to others more than ever. If you can't or don't feel comfortable seeing people IRL, then send someone a text, give them a call, or better yet, flood your friends with funny GIFs. Do what you can to let your teammates and loved ones know we are all in this together.

What compelled you to pack up your life in LA and move to Seattle to work at Oiselle?
When I first came into running several years ago, I tried to connect with other runners, only to find myself feeling left out or just not fitting in. From then on, I made it a mission to create spaces so other women wouldn't have to feel that way. After being involved in many other running programs I met Lauren Fleshman, learned about the Volée and needless to say I knew I finally found what I had been searching for. In LA, I had the privilege to lead the local Volée team, finding creative ways for women to connect not only in running, but in life. When the opportunity arose to continue developing Volée on a national level and work with a team of incredible women, I knew I just had to apply. I'll admit that at first, I thought this would just be a dream job, but as crazy as it sounds, I've realized it’s more than my dream job, it's my calling.

What are some of your guilty pleasures?
Chips and guacamole. I could eat this combo all day, everyday.
Snail mail. I LOVE getting and receiving handwritten notes.
Books. I just can’t get into reading on a digital device.

If you could pick up a new skill in an instant, what would it be?
I would love to be a better dancer. Last year I started Bollywood dance classes and became instantly hooked, but admittedly I’m not that good. I love to dance, but I am incredibly uncoordinated.

How do you like your eggs?
Poached. I love a good egg yolk, preferably on avocado toast.

What three words best describe you?
I have two...Wee Ginger.

French fries or tater tots?
Give me ALL the French fries

Deep dish or thin crust pizza?
I’m originally from Chicago, so don’t at me if I don’t say deep dish, but there really isn’t anything better than a thin crust pizza from Pat’s Pizza. And yes, it must always be cut in squares.

What's your superpower?
Being a people connector. There is nothing I love more than introducing people to each other, especially when they share similar interests.

Anything else you'd like people to know about you?
Here is a random fact that will be a great conversation starter if and when you meet me in real life. I have tiny feet and have worn the same shoe size since 6th grade.

Seriously though, I am really excited to get to know everyone in the Volée. This team is made up of so many incredible humans. I’m inspired by them daily.
