FLYOUT WOOL LONG SLEEVE
The buzz on this fabric is high. It's been a much anticipated release at The Nest, as staffers touch, feel, and wear test. Known as the "Swiss Army knife" of technical knits, Flyout Wool is truly one of the most versatile fabrics we've offered. Its secret sauce is its construction AND Merino Wool blend. It wicks moisture just as wonderfully as our regular Flyout. But with 30% Merino Wool, it's also warmer, so you can either stay cool or warm up, depending on your climate. This long sleeve silhouette is a classic crew, with slight shaping, and extra long cuffs that include our Watch Window, so you can instantly view your running watch without tugging and pulling at sleeves and cuffs.
- watch window on both sleeves
- 24.5" body length (size 4)
This shirt is amazing for those days when I go out running and see from the weather forecast that the temperature is going to swing 20-30 degrees during my run. Lately, I’ve experienced a lot of morning runs where it is 40 degrees at the start and 55 degrees by the time I finish and this shirt regulates heat really well. I’m just warm enough at the start and not overheated at the end. For is body slimming not hugging. As a bonus, it is also passable as a work shirt on Zoom!
I love the fit and the feel of this shirt so much. But the first one I bought had a hole in it after one wear. Oiselle replaced it right away. But then the second shirt also developed a small hole on the second wear. I wash in a garment bag and line dry, and didn't even feel anything snag the material so I'm not sure how these holes developed. Such a bummer because the shirt is so great that I was prepared to start collecting more colors.
This shirt is a workhorse. At first I thought it would be too thin for the winter. I am always cold and usually have to wear a long sleeve jacket when temps drop below 30. With this shirt (of which I own 2 and would buy the other two colors but they are sold out) I am comfortable wearing it alone when temps are above 30 and with a vest when below. It keeps me warm at the start of the run and keeps me from overheating once I get into higher mileage. Even when wet/sweaty, I don't feel cold in this shirt like I do in others that I have.
Can't wait until more colors are back in stock! For reference I am 5'2", 122 lbs and an ultra marathon runner. I have one shirt in size 4 that is fitted but not overly tight and I wear this when under a vest. The 6 is looser and is perfect when worn alone.
I have two of these shirts and really like them. I wear them alone when running in somewhat chilly temps and a regular long sleeved shirt isn’t quite warm enough and as a base layer when it’s cold. I LOVE them as a base layer to wear when fishing in the winter. I am always warm wearing them. I got the size 6 and am a 34d / 5’4” and 130lbs. The top is very flattering - form fitting, but not too tight. Super cute!
Agree with other reviewers that this shirt is much thinner than I expected for a wool blend. What’s more disappointing is that it arrived already snagged. This makes me think the fabric won’t hold up to runs and washes. Haven’t decided whether to exchange for something different or not. Really pretty color though.
Hi Lea, Sorry to hear that your Flyout Wool Long Sleeve arrived with damage. We will follow up with an email from email@example.com to see what we can do to help!
I asked for this shirt for Christmas and received it from my hubby and was instantly disappointed. It’s very thin, overly breathable and see through. I wanted a wool blend I wouldn’t have to layer for winter runs around 30-35* (other than maybe a thin vest). For $80+ dollars I expected warmer. Now I’ll never get my husband to buy me running gear again. I love Oiselle and own many items that are winter appropriate. This is much more of a spring shirt :(
This shirt is light but packs a warm punch. I wore it in 30-degree weather and was so warm (it wasn't breezy, though. I probably would have wanted an outer layer if it would have been windier). The watch window is such a game-changer. And the Crackle color is stunning. I'm 5'8", ~145 lbs. and the 6 is good - roomy enough to allow for a layer under it if needed.
The Wool Fly Out fits beautifully, especially if your a taller person who struggles with sizing. I am 5’11 & 145 lbs. I typically wear a size 6/8 and have another Fly Out long sleeve (not wool) in a 6. The 8 is definitely the better fit. My watch actually fits through the watch hole! Thanks Oiselle!
