I like the 4inch length, the liner, the material but I really need the "waist" band to be 3 inches higher and tapered so the shorts stay on and up, don't show the belly when you lift your arms and will still fit if you gain or lose 5 pounds.
I'm not saying get rid of the low waist but like the longer length, offer I higher waist too!!!
- Too low rise
Best Shorts Ever
The updated version is fantastic! I had the previous version as well, I think these are much better. They are super lightweight, a really flattering cut and length, with great pockets. They sit a little higher on the waist which I really like. Just really cool and comfortable and fit great (I am between a 10 and a 12 and in these shorts I wear a 10). These are the only shorts I wear now for running - I came to the website to order the blue color and I'm alarmed that they seem to be out of stock - please don't stop making these shorts! Keeping making them and make more colors!
- Flattering cut of the legs, lightweight material.
- more than 1 year(s)
No riding up, no chafing and super flattering!
I am a "bigger girl" (5'4" and 189 pounds) and these are my absolute favorite shorts! They don't ride up, don't chafe and are super flattering. These are the only shorts I run in now. I own four pairs and are worth every penny.
- Fit, style and pockets with zippers!
New fabric is perfect for hot weather
I love the new fabric on the black and blue shorts! It does not get weighed down by sweat or water like the old fabric. I wore these shorts for a hot 50 miler and used a lot of water and ice to cool down. Even though the shorts were damp the whole race, I did not feel like they were heavy. And the fabric is nice and soft - no chafing for me! Also, I love the cut of these shorts. I have ample hips and often shorts that fit in the hips don't fit in the waist. These fit perfectly everywhere.
- Fabric feels good even when it's hot

new design great....except one thing
I have four pairs of Long Rogas. I just purchased my first pair of the new design (this year's update) a few weeks ago. I LOVE the addition of the back waistband pocket. HOWEVER, the one piece drawstring has turned into a real pain. I love the design of the old drawstring. I tied this one into a half bow/slipknot so I could just pull it loose, but....something happened when I tried to untie it, and now it's in a knot. A very tight one. I've tried to loosen it with a safety pin or a paper clip, but all I've done is fray the drawstring and I'm afraid if I keep trying, I'll cause it to rip. So, luckily I can still get the shorts on over my waist....but further adjusting the waistband is now not possible. I love everything about the new design other than this - please bring back the original drawstring that is NOT one piece!
- cut, new pocket on back waistband, they do NOT ride up!
- new drawstring design
I cannot say enough good things about these shorts! I originally got them in preparation for a future JMT thru-hike, and now I'm absolutely addicted. They are so comfortable, I wish I could wear them all day everyday. They are the perfect length, don't ride up walking or sitting, and have convenient pockets (!!!). Other brands tend to ride up during hiking and become very uncomfortable, but these stay in place and are incredibly light and breezy. Love love love them!
Big quads beware
I bought these hoping they would be my long run summer solution. There are so many great reviews and I love Oiselle's mission. I really really really wanted them to work for me. But alas, I am an avid skier / climber / runner. And I love mountains. My quads are pretty thicc and I have a butt. I think that's why these just didn't work for me. As soon as I start moving the left side starts inching up. It's so frustrating and is way worse than many of the 4 inch shorts I own because there is so much fabric. It folds itself into a sweaty ball of fabric that chafes my thighs worse than if I just wore short shorts. I'm so sad because I thought these would be my 50k shorts. But maybe I am just going to have to live in spandex. I really wanted them to work for me. They are so cute and I love the floral pattern. For reference, I'm 5'5"and 135 and got a size 6. My build is very muscular and my quads are... Shapely. I think the shape of my quads and the shape of the shorts causes the fabric to creep up. The shorts kinda seem like they are made for slimmer runner builds. I can't really wear these for more than a 5 mile run.
- Length, style
- They ride up an insane amount
- 66 inches
- more than 1 year(s)
Perfect length for a little junk in the trunk (me). I love regular Roga's, but they barely cover my butt. Not a problem for shorter runs, but sometimes I like a little more coverage. these are perfect! and I love the unexpected side pocket!

Great functional shorts
I love the pockets on these shorts and they're super comfortable. I wore them on long training runs and during a recent marathon and they held up well - no chafing at all and plenty of room for gels/keys, etc. They are not the most flattering shorts though, likely because of the longer length and they seemed a little wider in the legs than my other shorts.Still worth it for the comfort though!
- Pockets, comfortable
- Not the most flattering
These shorts are fabulous. I'm 5'7", 170lbs and consider myself pear shaped. I own both sizes 12 and 10, and there are some distinct differences between the two. The 12 sits perfectly on my waist, but the leg openings are quite large. Not enough to bother me, but they ARE big. The size 10 leg openings are perfect, but they don't sit as high on my waist. I'm either choosing between a slight camel toe or having to use the drawstring to keep them from sliding down on a run. Even so, these are the ONLY pair of running shorts I've ever had luck with.
- Easy transition from running miles to running errands.
Great length and function
Great short with the right length because some of us girls have hips and thighs. More importantly the weight of the fabric (not to thin) also keeps the shorts from riding up. Love the multiple pockets that zip. I am going to order a second pair because I love them for kayaking too.
- Length and fabric weight
- Need to center the back pocket.

Great shorts for long distances
Great shorts for long distances. Not the most flattering shorts. I purchased size 2; 115lbs; 5'3" I wear a 4 in Lululemon. I've run up to 18 miles in them with no issues-except they show sweat. I will stick with black. I wish the pocket was larger enough for iPhone plus.
- Light-weight and no chafing
- shows sweat
- 5’ 5”
Best shorts ever
I wore these everyday for almost 3 months on an 1100 mile section of the Appalachian trail. They kept their shape after excessive use, didn’t ride up, and only got one small rip after I accidentally walked into a sharp stick. I’m home now and I still wear them every chance I get!

Great Shorts for Any Activity!
I bought these shorts at REI having never heard of the brand before and have since fallen in love. I often have trouble finding nice looking shorts with a longer inseam that I won't have to fidget with to make comfortable, but these are perfect. These shorts are super stretching, a perfect length and come with sizable pockets that zip (which is essential!). I use them lots for hiking, biking to and from grad school, and generally hanging around.
- Stretchy, great length, zip pockets, very comfortable
