Lux Track Pants
Have you ever wanted to take a rigid cotton shoelace and tie it snugly around your waist? No? Then skip these (and the Lux tights too). After many years of loving my Lux joggers and tights, I splurged on a multiple pairs (4!) to be comfy at home while going through a divorce during a pandemic. When i slipped them on, the waist cut in so badly i was sure i had gained weight so I took measurements and tried on other clothes. It wasn’t me. It was the pants. I gave these pants to my 10 year old (i am normally a 8/m and she is normally an Xs/0) The pair in my said, hurt and squeezed her little size zero tummy too. I wish these had been recalled so I could return them all but I missed the return window and no human can actually wear these.
I had last year's version of these pants (2019) and wore them ALL THE TIME until my mom stole them from me (!), so I bought a new pair (2020) as soon as they came out. A number of things have changed and they're nowhere near as flattering or comfortable as the previous ones. First, as others have mentioned, they have the new elastic waistband that seems to be common now and it has exactly the same issues as it does on other pants. It's constricting, and not nearly as elastic as it should be. It's also narrow and uncomfortable. You can see the difference in the pictures as the black is still last year's (the pics, not the actual pants).
The fit has also changed - I still got the same size (S) but they don't quite fit the same. Finally, the material seems to be thinner (but it's still lux!).
The one thing that I think is better for me is that they seem to be a tad longer.
I have another pair of the lux tights and they have the same issue, the elastic added to the waist band makes them almost unwearable. This is a great product, but whatever or whomever in charge of waist sizing/design needs to go. When I think of comfort I don't think of a waistband that is so constrictive that I cut the elastic because it's cutting off my circulation. I'm 5'4, 125lbs, size 24/25 waist and got the XS (which fits me everywhere but the waist)
-material is bomb
-length is great
-pockets, these can be floppy with a phone but do the trick
-you can and should cut the elastic band, it's unnecessary and it's constrictive but it's cuttable!
-new work from home staple and you probably won't want to take them off after you cut the elastic waistband
-the elastic wait band
The previous lux track pants were perfection for me. The updated material is MUCH thinner, and the cut is less flattering. This pair will be fine for Fall, but not warm enough for Winter. I preferred the wider waistband. I bought two pairs and am returning one as I can't justify the price of something I am not "loving". Comfy, yes, but just doesn't feel like the same quality as its predecessor.
