These were part of my first order of Oiselle shorts. I would say my true rating is 3.5/5, but don't love them as much as I had hoped I would. The fit and performance aren't perfect, but they're decent. I don't think I would order more of these, but I'll probably keep them in the rotation.
FIT: I followed the sizing chart and reviews and ordered an 8 (I've never gotten a size that big before in shorts/pants!). I am 5'5", 135 lbs with larger thighs and a smaller waist. They are slightly looser than I would prefer in the waist, but they do have a drawstring. The legs are fitted but not super tight. Maybe for more compression I should have gotten a 6, but I didn't want sausage legs. I think the butt/legs fit is flattering, but the waistband is not -- the upper and lower seams are in just the right place to highlight my lower belly fat, even though I don't have that much of it! Luckily my shirt covers that up. They are comfortable, so I decided to keep them.
PERFORMANCE: I just went for my first run in them (75 degrees, 99% humidity), and they held up pretty well! They do ride up a little in the crotch but I like how they keep my thighs from chafing. The large back pocket is nice and could hold my phone, but obviously my phone got very sweaty and it made my lower back sweat a lot. I got the black and even those showed a bit of sweat at the top of my butt after my run, but the weather was particularly hot and sticky. I wouldn't say they are very breathable, but I noticed the sweatiness most after the run, so it was okay with me.
I really wish Oiselle had a better return policy! I've gotten some workout clothes from Athleta and I love that you can try working out in them and still return them, and that return shipping is free.
I usually wear a size 4 in Oiselle capris and tights, and love them - the fit, the pockets, the colors. But these shorts are so disappointing - they are SO tight in the waist/belly area that they gave me a stomachache. I had to stop halfway through my run today to basically hold the shorts away from my body. I cut off the tags, so can't return them, and am bummed out. For reference, I'm 5'8, and 125 lbs.
I was so excited that my shorts arrived and I wore them out on a quick 3 mile jog. While they were comfy, when I got home I was horrified to see that the entire back and crotch were dark from sweat- it looks like I peed myself. For reference, I have the dark purple. This was my first order from Oiselle, So I’m pretty disappointed.
I really really really wanted to love these. And while I don’t dislike them, they didn’t live up to my hopes. I usually am a size 4 and after reading the reviews I ordered a size 6. This was good because I have a rather large booty and the waist of these didn’t stretch at all. I like the high rise feel and the length is perfect but in sizing up I think I lost some of the compression that would have held them still on the legs. Did a two mile in these and they didn’t rise up a ton on the leg but the waist creeped up and the legs then followed. All in all an okay short just not what I hoped for the price. I will keep them (having run in them) and they’ll definitely stay in rotation. I was just hoping for more
PSA I’m 5ft, 135lbs with larger thighs and booty. Normally a size 4, ordered a size 6. Photos are post 2 miler in 80 degree heat. There was some sweat showing in groin area post run.
I have a few pairs of these from last year and agree with other reviewers that the 2020 ones are a little tighter. But I went with my same size that I've worn before and they're stretchy enough it doesn't bother me. I actually don't like the high waist on these or the pocket capris BUT I keep coming back to them because the side pockets are so awesome and they stay put when I run. I just fold the waist down on my hips and that works for me. I would love these shorts with a lower waist. Also, the rising sun color is awesome but def a little see-though.
I was looking for a tighter fitting pair of shorts for running and long walks with my dog. I bought these ones and the longer version, and I opted to keep these ones in multiple colors. I love the fit and how they don’t ride up. The abundance of pockets is so great for dog treats or your phone. Looking forward to buying more colors of these and wearing them all summer long. Fit is identical to pocket jogger - I normally a 6 or 8 in lulu leggings and a 10 in shorts, I got a 10 in these and they fit great! Thank you
I loved my pocket jogger shorts from last year. They fit perfectly, and I wore them all summer for marathon training with no issues. I bought some new ones during the Nee Day sale and they're extremely tight. I am a very consistent size 6 in all things from Oiselle, and even after losing 10 pounds from last summer, these shorts were still a struggle to pull on. Very disappointing.
I wanted to love these shorts, and the pockets are great. However, I don't love the very high waistband, and I felt they run a bit small. I usually wear a 2/4 or a 26/27, so I bought a size 4, but they tend to ride up a bit when I run.
