What would a trail bird want? As in someone who doesn't just move their legs forward and backward, but also laterally, vertically, side-stepping, skipping and leaping! These shorts were designed for total freedom. You asked for a good old fashioned split leg short, but with an O twist. Our solution: an integrated semi-split with our signature flyout hem. And an overall relaxed fit for maximum mobility.
Also available in the 6" inseam Long Flyout Shorts.
- Flyout Stretch Woven (nylon/spandex)
- interior infinity drawcord
- built-in technical liner
- two side hand pockets
- 3.5" inseam (all sizes)
After reading the reviews I debated ordering a size down but so glad I didn't. I normally wear a size 4 and size 4 fit me perfectly. I would describe the fit as similar to OG distance but better. The inner liner isn't as baggy and it sits just a little lower (right below my belly button). I do agree with the other reviews that the pockets are pretty non functional. It's too big where if you put keys in there it will bounce around. It's big enough for a iphone XR but who want to run while one side of their shorts is being weighed down by a phone. The only use I can think of for those pockets is maybe a fuel packet or a credit card. Still happy with my purchase because the fabric is light and comfy.
Just echoing all the other comments here. These shorts are great, love the fabric and the fit. The front pockets are annoying... Maybe just have one front pocket and add a back pocket would be a lot more useful.
I'm 5'9, 135 lbs, and a size 6 in the distance shorts. Size 6 is way too big in the flyout shorts, so I recommend sizing down. The good: the fabric feels nice. The bad: the waistband feels rough and scratchy, the fit is "poofy" and very unflattering in the front, the fabric wrinkles horribly after washing, the pockets cause the sides of the shorts to poof out, and the pockets hang out below the hem of the shorts when I sit down. I never reach for this when I get dressed for a run!
When I first tried these on, I wasn't a fan and was about to send them back. I'm a fan of the Rogas and these felt really different; a much narrower waistband that felt tight at first, since the pressure is over a smaller area, and the cut looked a bit like the infamous "poofy shorts." I debated a bit and ended up keeping them, and I'm really glad I did. The fabric doesn't feel that special until worn on really hot and sweaty runs (located in Texas, so all the time) but it feels really light and wicks sweat well, so they're one of my favorite pairs for summer running now. Like other reviewers, I'm not a fan of the pockets. The zippers are at an angle across the front of the thigh, like casual shorts, so it's kind of an awkward place to put anything remotely heavy. It works ok with a key, but I don't think I'd want to put anything bulkier than that in them while running. I'd definitely prefer a small zipper waist pocket.
As many others have said, these shorts are so comfortable! They fit me so well (8, true to size for Oiselle), and the fabric is amazing. I wear them mostly just as "lifestyle" clothing because they're that good, but also good for running of course. The pockets are in a weird place, and the zippers puff out when sitting down. Would love more colors and pockets somewhere else!
The only athletic shorts I’ve found with a zip pocket that fits my iPhone. Need more colors! I have blue and black and would love them in other colors abs prints since I practically live in these!
Please, please, please make the old version of these shorts from two seasons ago. The front pockets make no sense in the current shorts and they bunch up. The previous versions of these shorts fit so great and I need replacements for my three pair since I wear them everyday for running. Maybe bright colors would be fun like a red or neon orange?!? Please!
I really wanted to love these shorts, but the pocket design is terrible. As a runner, front pockets don't make any sense. If you put anything in them, it bounces around and is a nuisance when running. Like other reviewers said, the pockets also stick out the bottom of the shorts with movement or whenever they're weighted down. A rear pocket would make so much more sense with these. An integrated pocket would also help since a.) they wouldn't stick out the bottom, and b.) there would be less fabric. Not sure what the previous versions were like, but would highly recommend either a rear pocket or having the side pocket face the back of the shorts rather than the front. The cut is nice - I like the longer inseam and split leg - but the pockets ruin them for me.
