What is your favorite quote that guides, inspires, or embodies your training/racing/life?
"You can't hate the Beast and expect to beat it; the only way to truly conquer something, as every great philosopher and geneticist will tell you, is to love it." Born to Run, Cristopher McDougall

"Whether you turn to the right or turn to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, 'this is the way; walk in it.'" Isaiah 30:21

Favorite post-race meal?
Greek yogurt, if I can get some granola in it I am even happier.

What is your must-have piece of running gear?
I am all about the socks! Definition of a "good pair of socks" - tall enough to prevent your shoe from rubbing your ankle and thick enough to prevent your toes from freezing in winter but not cause sweating in the summer.

Do you have a training philosophy?
Consistency is key. By keeping things consistent my body is allowed to adjust to the high mileage and the stress being put on it. It also keeps me from overthinking everything. By making sure I am doing the same thing week in, week out and limiting the number of new factors I introduce into my training it allows me to get a better idea of the cause and effects of my training.

What is your favorite place to compete?
I always love competing at Hillsdale College. Mostly because it is my home turf and I have a great support system there. But in general I love competing wherever there are races to be run.
Why do you run?
I love running because I love to compete. Running is a way to not only compete with others but also with yourself. You're competing with your past self and past times and trying to better them. I am constantly pushing myself to become better on the track, which helps me push myself to become better in all aspects of my life.

What is your favorite activity, when not running?
You can either find me reading or binge watching documentaries on Netflix with my sisters.

Complete the sentence: If I was stranded in a hotel room with one movie and one book they would be…
The last Harry Potter book and movie.
