What is your favorite quote that guides, inspires, or embodies your training/racing/life?
"You can't hate the Beast and expect to beat it; the only way to truly conquer something, as every great philosopher and geneticist will tell you, is to love it." Born to Run, Cristopher McDougall
"Whether you turn to the right or turn to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, 'this is the way; walk in it.'" Isaiah 30:21
What was your favorite sport in middle school?
Soccer! I loved the team aspect to the sport and the fact that you had to all work together. At that point in my life running really stressed me out because it felt much too individual.
Can you share your first sports bra experience?
I remember when my mom first told me it was time to wear bras I was devastated, I felt like it was going to be constricting me for the rest of my life. But then she got me a pink sports bra with a gold fish on the front and I became much more ok with the idea of wearing them, if for no other reason than I thought they were cute. It was a pretty easy transition for me thanks to my older sister and my mom.
What is your absolutely favorite piece of #flystyle and why?
My favorite piece is by far the Flyte long sleeve, I love the look of it and that fact that it layers really well or can be worn by itself!
If you could give one piece of advice to a 12 year old girl, what would it be?
Never ever be afraid to dream big. You really never know what you are capable of until you try something. Surround yourself with people who you trust and believe in you and go for your dreams.
Tell us about your favorite place you have ever traveled to:
Acadia National Park, I love the state of Maine in general but Acadia is amazing. They have the carriage roads which are just miles and miles of crushed limestone that no cars are allowed on, plus they are beautiful. I also love that Maine really has it all, the ocean, mountains, and the woods.
What alternative career do you fantasize about?
I think it would be really cool to own my own business. My current fantasy is to partner with my dad to create a running store paired with a brewery (my dad makes some pretty good beer).
What is your superpower?
I wish my superpower was teleportation. But I think my real life super power is the ability to face tough situations with a smile on my face. Not much shakes me and I think I can tackle most of life’s situations in a positive manner.
