What is your favorite quote that guides, inspires, or embodies your training/racing/life?
"Life is a journey not a destination."
Favorite post-race meal?
It's usually a little rough for my stomach after racing (think crawled up in the fetal position for a few hours) but once the hunger of not eating in 12+ hours plus the tax of a hard 20k sets in I am ready to devour everything. The IHOP breakfast sampler with an additional side of blueberry pancakes can do the trick. If no IHOP is around anything with lots of carbs and some protein.
What is your must-have piece of running gear?
Polar M400 watch and a heart rate monitor.
Do you have a training philosophy?
Train smart, race fast. - Coach Tim Seaman
What is your favorite place to run?
Why do you race walk?
I walk because it allows me to clear my head; it dissolves away my stress; it makes me feel free, strong and powerful; it is my ticket around the world; it allows me to inspire the next generation; and I walk because I am a race walker and when you walk fast enough anything is possible!
What is your favorite activity, when not running?
Swimming for cross training, kayaking for pleasure on my off weeks.
