do you have a quote that guides, inspires, or embodies your training/racing/life?
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.  We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.” (Hebrews 12:1-2a)

what is your favorite post-race meal?
The largest supreme burrito I can find.

what is your must-have piece of running gear?
My favorite sports bra and water bottle, besides my shoes of course.

do you have a training philosophy?
If you give into the fear or excuses and don't leave every ounce of energy on the track each time, then you have been defeated regardless of the outcome. I've never heard anyone say after a race, "man, I wish I had gone a little easier." Trust your coach and your training. Don't over-think it or focus on what's coming, just focus on each step as it comes and the rest will take care of itself. Relish the process, not the outcome.

what is your favorite place to run?
For a workout, I love the Nampa Indoor Track. I feel like I'm flying on the banked corners. For a longer run, I love trails that I can lose myself on...that are jut steep and winding enough to be challenging, but not so hard that I stop having fun.

why do you run?
I believe Jesus created me to run, and while I'm certainly not incredible at it, I enjoy exploring my potential with Him. God has taught me so much about himself, life and myself through running. But there is still so much still to learn - that is why I keep running.

what animal do you most resemble in your racing?
A lion/gazelle hybrid. I like to be steady, long and smooth like a gazelle, but I have the fierceness and determination of a lion.

what is your favorite activity when not running?
Traveling (I backpacked 3 months in New Zealand last fall), trying new recipes, throwing pottery, reading, watching movies, gardening, spending time with my family and friends, dancing, and playing ball with my dog, Jack.

If I was stranded in a hotel room with one movie and one book, they would be ...
"Open Range" or "Fun with Dick and Jane" and The Bee Keeper's Apprentice by Laurie R. King.
