Great all season jacket
I've been wearing it the past few weeks on my morning runs. The temps have been in the high 20s and mid 30s with a few days having light mist or flurries. This jacket keeps me dry and warm. The first time I wore it, I layered a quarterzip and a long sleeve shirt underneath and I was dying.
As for the size, I'm short and small busted and the jacket hit just below my hips. It's just a tad long for me but if you're over 5'6" or chesty it would have to seem short.
- It's light, warm, and packable
- It's not very breathable.
- Buffalo, NY
- more than 2 month(s)
This jacket is the perfect, lightweight layer for windy fall running. I hate to be cold, and I love how when I wear this jacket out for a run, it majorly withstands the wind, and if I get too hot, I can stuff it in a pocket and wear on my arm. The arm band in the pocket is genius, and it's so lightweight, I barely feel it! Just for comparison, for those who've ever run with their phone in an armband, this is way, way lighter.
- wind-stopping magic in super lightweight fabric
Packable and cute
I know this isn't a waterproof jacket, but many of the reviews mentioned that it had withstood a decent amount of rain. However, any light moisture immediately drips through whenever I wear this in a drizzle, which is disappointing. I've had it for over a year now. It's a great jacket for running in the cold autumn, and I love its packability and style. Pocket zipper can be slightly hard to open, but they're big enough for a phone and snacks, etc.
- style, colour, packability
- wish it was more water-resistant
Pack this jacket
This jacket is always in my luggage. Mainly I go to watch my daughter compete in Triathlons and it almost always rains at least once in the weekend. I always stay warm and dry with this jacket! I have worn it on several runs and it is phenomenal for that as well. A little short if you have longer arms and torso. Would love to have a 4 Long!
In 28 years of running I've never worn a jacket, even in the rain of SW British Columbia, but I'm starting to be a bit of a baby about cold, driving rain so I bought this. It's awesome, and warm. I have to trust it and wear only a single layer underneath, because twice (in rainy, 2-3 degree Celsius weather) I became too hot while wearing it. Love the fact it can pack up into a little pouch for easy carrying though. It's super lightweight, and not too long.
- lightweight, perfect length, good reflectivity
Love this jacket, keeps you warm on those rainy wet or just cold runs. Nice and light. Only drawback is it’s a little short. Wish there was a bit more length.
- Light, reflective
- Too sort
Vim for the Win!
Best functional Oiselle jacket I have owned. It far surpasses the Wallace (hood was too big and too loose; snaps got in the way sometimes) and has a hood which the Burke didn't. It's lightweight and perfect for wind resistance or repelling light rain for awhile, or moderate rain for short periods of time. The edition of reflectivity this Fall '17 season makes it safe for early morning, late night, or snowy low visibility days. Really happy with this piece, just know that it's still only water resistant not water proof!
- Hood sizing, water repellency, packability, reflectivity
- Wish something truly waterproof existed
I've been a longtime Patagonia Houdini wearer and couldn't ever justify spending money on a second running rain jacket...until it started raining again. And because Seattle. I can't believe I waited this long to buy this - it's super lightweight, packable, breathable, durable, and washes like dream. It also has some seriously thoughtful designs - the reflective strips keep you visible (and look amazing) & the pack-into-its own pocket with an elastic band really sets it apart from the Houdini!
- Lightweight, Breathable, Stylish reflectivity
Good Transition Jacket
I upgraded from a previous Oiselle jacket because of a need for a jacket to wear in the rain and wind that could be packed away and stuck in my pack when done with and an upgrade in the reflectivity. I ran in it at 19F with just a Wazzie Wool t-shirt and managed to still get a little warm. Like most of the outerwear tops that I have purchased from Oiselle, it does run a little shorter than my liking in the torso but sizing up may have helped.
- Lightweight, packable, reflective accents that won't wear off in time, wind-resistant
- A little short
- Seattle, WA
An important layer to own
This jacket is an important layer for a rainy or windy day. It shields you from the elements and lets you concentrate on your run or walk.
When you do get warmed-up, I love folding the jacket up into the pocket! I wore in for part of a half-marathon race, left it on my arm and easily tossed it to my cheering friend to grab after the race.
It is also great to wear under a ski jacket during the winter months. The Vim jacket is also really easy to wash which is a big bonus when you sweat all over it.
- easy to carry, blocks the wind, looks great, zipper pockets
Love this jacket!
This has become my favorite jacket. It performs well in rain and wind and is not clingy when wet. The extra details of being able to contain the hood and stuff it in the pocket and carry it with the strap leave me with little I would change about it.
I am usually a size 6 in shirts and long sleeves but got a size Small in the jacket. I can comfortably fit a short and long sleeve under it at the same time, but wouldn't have enough room for a sweatshirt. So if you want to fit bulky layers beneath it, you may want to size up.
- the performance
I love almost everything about this jacket, except it is about 4 inches too short so sadly it is being returned. I am 5'9 and the sides of this jacket fall around the tops of my hips. I prefer a little more coverage, especially for a rain jacket. A small fit really well, other than being too short. I would love it if Oiselle came out with tall sizes.
- Color, material
Vim is fabulous
I heart this coat! Ask anyone at work, I've worn it everyday since I got it. Just ordered my second one, have Midnight and getting Rio Red. It's water repellency held up to a steady WA rain for over 1 1/2hrs before I felt a little moisture come through. It's really soft and super lightweight.
Getting this second red one to wear horseback riding, a good visibility color and the windproof feature will make it a great trail riding jacket.
- Soft feel, lightweight, windproof, great fit
- Not a dislike but I'm a pocket fan and I'd love to have inside drop pockets
