- 4" inseam (all sizes)
I bought my first pair of summer rogas a few years ago and they have been my go-to since. I finally decided I needed a second pair and boy was I right. Sweat resistant, don't ride up, don't chafe, room for keys, just perfect. I'm 5'5", 135, athletic build and the 6 fits great with a little extra room (I don't like things skin tight when running). Don't hesitate, just buy these and thank Oiselle later!
This is my first Summer Roga purchase, I have regular Rogas, Pocket Joggers, and Distance shorts. I took them on a 13 humid trail test run, and I couldn't be happier! They did not ride up at all and I forgot I was wearing them. I'm 5'4, 140'ish, athletic thighs and some junk in the trunk. Size 6 fits perfect! Thanks for another great pair of shorts!
I want to like these shorts more, but the mesh pocket in the back is a bit loose. You can store larger items like your phone and gu/gel packs. It bounces a lot when you run, so it isn't the safest place to keep your key. I ended up just holding my key for the entire run. I wish there's a small interior pocket in the front to store small item tight to your body and not having to worry that it would bounce off somewhere. Or at least have a key loop inside the mesh pocket. Or don't use the mesh material. Other than that I do like the fit of these shorts, although a lit loose around the thighs. Good for summer runs.
I'll preface this by saying I've never tried rogas until I ordered these and the regular rogas. Unfortunately, something about the fit of these was off for me! I am 5'5", 130-135 lbs, and definitely bottom heavy. The 6s were too small in the legs/crotch, and the 8s were too big in the waist, even with the drawstring. They seem like nice shorts, just weren't right for my body shape! I was also disappointed that the back pocket doesn't have a zipper as I always run with either my house key or car key. Luckily, the regular rogas fit much better!
I love ❤️ these shorts. They are very breathable, and even when soaked with sweat, don’t have sweat marks. The large pocket accommodates a phone nicely, and is not open all the way across, but connected still in the middle. This keeps the phone from squeezing out,
Now- sizing. I always struggle reading size reviews. I could say I am 5’4, 120 lbs and fall between S and M in most clothes. But what does that really say? So- my waist is 30. Hips 37. And thigh 21. On the size chart I would fall at a 6. But reading other reviews went with a 4. They are a little roomy in the thighs, but the amount that keeps them from riding up when I run. The backside Is comfortable but has a bit of a “diaper butt” appearance to me.
I purchased my first two pairs of summer rogas last year for my trip to the Utah National Parks. 10 miles a day for 5 days plus countless wears over this past year and the shorts have held up wonderfully - they still look brand new! I was a bit apprehensive when I saw that they had been redesigned - how do you make the best better? But ordered anyway. I still love them! No chafing. No issues with them what so ever. For sizing I am 5'2'' and 118ish lbs with fairly muscular thighs, which makes a size 4 a gift of greatness. No longer do I deal with bunching/rubbing or any other unpleasantness. So much so that I recently just sold all my other workout shorts in order to purchase two more pairs this year.
My only suggestion to Oiselle is for the summer rogas to come in more colors!
I have two versions of this short, an older version with a zipper pocket and a new version with the same waistband phone pocket as these shorts. I really want to buy another pair of these and was hoping this year the zipper pocket would return. Going for a trail run and constantly checking that my car key is still back there is not how I want to spend my runs. I love everything else about these shorts, but I guess I am going to keep waiting it out to see if Oiselle finally brings back a secure pocket for these shorts. :(
Great fabric, lightweight, can't wait to go on runs with them on. One issue: the size. I ordered a size 4 (I'm 45-5'3"-117lbs) based on the waist size chart (36"). Fits well at the hips, but baggy everywhere else. I've ordered another pair in size 2 of the Banana split shorts and they fit okay. I'm going to try a size 2 in the Roga.
If your thighs are on the slim side, I'd suggest ordering a size down based on the size chart.
