I've worn my trusty 2019 Pocket Joggers for many workouts and races and was disappointed by the 2020 ones. The higher and tighter waist is uncomfortable and unflattering. Since I live in a warm climate, I also dislike that the extra bit of waist coverage limits cooling. My 2020 Pocket Joggers sit in the back of my drawer, untouched for weeks at a time as I consistently reach for other shorts. Hoping for a redesign and a return to the 2019 fit soon!
These used to be my favorite summer running shorts! I bought 3 pairs in 2019 and run in them all the time. They’re compressive but still comfortable, and the pockets are amazing. I bought a new pair this year and Oiselle has definitely changed the fabric of these. I bought the same size I have in the other 3 pairs and these fit differently - the cut is the same but the fabric now has zero give. I feel like I’m suffocating just walking around the house, so I can’t imagine going for a run in them. Hoping Oiselle brings back the old version!
I typically don't like spandex shorts. But these are awesome! I and 5'2" and 115 pounds. I bought them in a size 6. they seem to stretch out a bit but I just fold the top and don't notice it at all when running! Did 13 miles in the humidity and didn't chafe at all!
I am going to buy another pair but probably in a size 4! Hope this was helpful!
Everything about these shorts is perfect except for the waistband. Compression should not mean “sucking the life out of my abdomen.” Way too tight and makes for an unflattering outfit unless paired with a looser top
I really like these shorts. The pockets are so convenient to hold all of my items and the back zip pocket securely holds my phone while running. At first the shorts are a little tight on the waist but now I actually like how secure it feels while running. The material is high quality and the shape is flattering as well.
I read a lot of the reviews about the waist being tight compared to prior iterations before deciding to go with my regular size anyway. I’d rather them be a little tight than too loose and shift around during the run. I agree that these feel a little tight as compared to last season’s pocket jogger shorts, but I found it tolerable and not uncomfortable during the run. If anything, it reminded me to keep my core engaged. Sitting around afterwards, the waist did start to feel a little too snug, though. I suspect, like with most things, these will loosen up a bit with washing and wearing. I’m overall happy with them because they are a good length and have all the pockets.
I saw the many reviews saying these joggers run small. I didn't listen. I initially got a size 6, which is what I wear in other Oiselle bottoms (I'm 5'5", 125 lbs). They were suffocating, so I returned them and got a size 8. This was an improvement but still squeezed me in a very unflattering and uncomfortable way. I'm torn whether I want to size up to a size 10 or just give up. I liked the length, but these may not be for me.
I adore the earlier versions of these shorts. Great length, great pockets, don't ride up, fun colors, etc. I have several in sizes 8 and 10. I love 'em. In these new covid times, I've been running shorter distances more frequently, so I needed more shorts. Bought these, cut off the tags, took 'em for a run and... So Much Regret.
With absolutely no warning in the description, both the sizing and the cut have been changed. I sent back some 10s for some 12s - the largest size, no chance to get something bigger - and the 12s are tighter than my 8s from a year and a half ago. This unpredictability is just unsupportable.
The higher cut of the waist might be in keeping with this year's styles, but is awful for runners. Pull off your shirt to cool down and... you're still covered with heavy cloth. I now run with the waistband doubled over... which renders all those pockets on the waistband useless. And the waistband is so tight and unyielding that it feels like it's rearranging my internal organs. I've taken to stretching them out overnight on the back of a chair, but it still feels like running in a girdle. Which. I mean. I'm sure at some point there's been a rage for working out in a girdle, but I'm not feeling it!
It's also utterly disappointing that Oiselle is chosing to cut off the size range here. I weigh 155 and am 5'4" - well below the current average for American women. And these are exactly the shorts that women with larger thighs will want to buy. :waves a wary greeting at Chafing: This sizing decision strikes me as a poor way to support women athletes (and, for that matter, your own bottom line!). In the past I've bought from Oiselle with joy and abandon. I've bought for myself, I've bought for family members, I've recommended to friends. I suppose I might buy again in the future, but only after sufficient reviews weigh in and only if I'm feeling down with probably wasting time and money at the post office. The spell is gone.
