What would a trail bird want? As in someone who doesn't just move their legs forward and backward, but also laterally, vertically, side-stepping, skipping and leaping! These shorts were designed for total freedom. You asked for a good old fashioned split leg short, but with an O twist. Our solution: an integrated semi-split with our signature flyout hem. And an overall relaxed fit for maximum mobility.
Also available in the 6" inseam Long Flyout Shorts.
- Flyout Stretch Woven (nylon/spandex)
- interior infinity drawcord
- built-in technical liner
- two side hand pockets
- 3.5" inseam (all sizes)
I also prefer previous versions of this short. These do seem stiffer (and therefore puffier), the waistband is more crinkly, and the pockets are confusing - why do the short version have two, but the long only one? Whenever I sit down, the pockets stick out the bottom of the shorts. If I put anything IN the pocket, the end sticks out from under the shorts while standing too. Definitely preferred the back zip pocket. I do still wear them, but for the money, I do wish they were more flattering and functional.
I really wanted to love these shorts. I liked the weight of the material and loved the purple color. They just didn't fit my body right. I am 5'7", 135 lbs, athletic build with a bigger bum and muscular thighs and my waist is not all that much smaller than my hips. The size 4 was definitely too tight in the waist, and the size 6 fit better in the waist but was just too much material in the legs- they were very "poofy" and not very flattering for someone who is already much smaller on top than on bottom. I ended up going with the size 4 in the Banana Split shorts and they were perfect for me, I'm hoping they will do those shorts in this lovely purple color.
I lived by the original flyout shorts. These are much stiffer feeling and the band is more constricting and rough (it rubs too much on my lower back and makes it chafe). I also preferred the pocket on the backside vs the side of the short but this is just my preference. I don't know why Oiselle continues to try to make their already great products "better" - like with this new flyout short version. It doesn't make me feel confident in buying another pair.
My first love was the Distance shorts. I branched out and fell equally in love with the Rogas. Now I’m apparently in a throuple with the Flyouts. If you’re a fan of the Distance shorts, you’ll love these too. More colors please!!
Love this shorts. I have been purchasing them for several years but there are only 3 colors offered. Can we get red and green?
I ordered the same size as I wear in the roga’s And love how light weight they are! The ONLY issue I had with them is the waist band elastic flipped over on itself and it refuses to lay flat. I don’t have flat abs so I am used to issues like this, but if the elastic weren’t quite so wide maybe it wouldn’t flip so easily. Otherwise they are amazing!
Jesus Oiselle I can't afford to fall in love with any more of your shorts. I thought Rogas were my shorts for life. Then the distance short became my summer best friend. Then the pocket jogger gives me all the long run feels. But now I'm LIVING in this flyout short (in the purple..trust me...gorgeous). I received the package on a Sunday and spent the night lounging in them. I wore them on a run on Monday, then to a core class. I had to wash them on Tuesday to wear for my track workout on Wednesday.
That said, I know I'll use my Rogas/Pocket Joggers for longer runs just to avoid wearing a flip belt.
I got a size 4 but probably could have gone with a size 2 (5'5", 127, athletic thighs)
Favorite new shorts. Actually, favorite shorts ever. Did a very hot hill repeat workout in them and didn't think about them once. Bought my usual size four and they fit perfect.
Is it acceptable to wear these every day? Asking for a friend...
