I purchased the insulated vim jacket back in early December. I have noticed that when I wear it on colder runs less than 30 degrees that little ice chunks build up in between the two layers in the arms. After 3 or 4 miles my body heat melts the ice and then I end up with water streaming in through the seam in the elbow. When I am finished I am soaked from my elbow down to my wrist.

Thanks for sharing this Mel! It sounds like you may have received a defective item. We will reach out to you from to address this concern.

Awesome for COLD weather

I live in South Dakota and needed something to wear on the coldest days. I’ve tried other brands and never found anything that truly kept my core warm. I find this jacket to be too warm for 10+ degree days, but perfect for anything below 10. Recently wore this jacket on a -15 day with the Flyout Wool Long Sleeve as my base layer, was perfectly comfortable during my run!! Love the toggle on the hood to tighten around my face. Also like the zippers on the pockets. I was hesitant to spend the money, but this jacket is truly worth every dime!! I never write reviews, but would highly recommend the Insulated Vim for cold winter running.

First Oiselle purchase and I am so glad I did. My previous running jacket was getting old/wearing down, and I needed to find a replacement. I really did not think this jacket would be as warm as it is. Deceptively, it looks light and maybe even a little fragile. I wore two long sleeved shirts underneath this jacket on a 25 degree day... I was drenched in sweat after a 4 mile run. This thing is a workhorse!! Incredibly lightweight, insulating, and comfortable. I almost want to purchase a second one in case they ever stop making this jacket. You really don't need many layers underneath this one.
My only complaint would be the collar. When fully zipped up, the collar sits in a slightly uncomfortable way - it can feel like the material is rubbing underneath my chin. To avoid this I have to keep it slightly unzipped, so it's an easy fix. Otherwise, I am blown away by this one. Bravo, Oiselle!

Incredible jacket

I bought this jacket for running in cold weather. I'm not the sort to usually spend my time writing reviews for products, but this jacket is amazing. First of all, it is very comfortable and lightweight. I first wore it to run in the high 20s. I was perfectly warm with a lightweight wool long sleeve shirt underneath, no additional layers. When I got warm from running, I just unzipped it and the jacket became an airy layer that let heat and moisture out, I didn't have to stop running to take it off. I have been using it in temps in the 20s and 30s, in rain and snow, and all I can say is I have had some of the most comfortable nasty weather runs ever. Plus it is so comfortable and super lightweight--did I mention that? I'm not sure it is 100% waterproof, but I have tested it in pretty wet conditions and I stayed reasonably dry. The lining is soft and cozy and feels dry and airy and warm no matter what. FWIW, I'm not some super athlete, I'm just a middle aged lady who loves to run, and this jacket lets me happily get out and do my thing even when the weather is trying to say "no."

As an aside, it is a very pretty jacket and the tailoring is very flattering, even with it sized up the way I have.

Re: sizing, I am 5'8" and 135 lbs, but I have broad shoulders and muscular arms so I ordered both the medium and the large and ended up keeping the large so I would have room to add a layer underneath. However, the jacket is so warm that I don't think I will be needing to add many layers.

Finally found a perfect winter running jacket

I tried and returned an absurd number of winter running jackets from other companies before finding this beauty. It is flattering - warm without being bulky and hits me at the perfect length. I can layer underneath it without feeling like a stuffed sausage. Even kept it on after my run to walk the dog in a steady ran (for over an hour) and my shirt underneath never got wet! For reference I’m 5’4” 125lbs and I got a small.

The Perfect Jacket for Cold Weather

I run cold and have been searching for a warm outer layer that could easily be peeled off as the long run warms up. This jacket is perfect, especially for temperatures below 30 degrees. While that might seem hard to believe based on its weight, it's true! It's also wind resistant and wicks sweat perfectly.

It does run slightly larger than many running companies' outer layers. I'm typically a medium and could have easily gone with a small in this. It's not a "con" though, because it's more true to size. Well done, Oiselle.
