I SO appreciate that Oiselle keeps making tops for those of us who are worried about sun exposure! I got last year's longsleeve and the Jade, and I like them both, but they're VERY different. The Jade fabric seems thinner than Oiselle's previous UPF top (I can't remember the name of that one), but it also seems more dense and less breathable. On the other hand, the collar is higher and it stays up better, so you get much better sun protection for your neck with the Jade. That's a big improvement in my opinion, since I buy these tops in part so that I don't have to worry about smearing sunscreen unevenly on parts of my body that I can't see and getting it in my hair (gross). I was definitely hotter than I expected to be in the first run I took in it, but it was probably just a little too warm for a maiden voyage that day— I got it in the late afternoon and wanted to try it out immediately! I think this top is going to work really well for longer, slower runs that I put off until 10 or 11 a.m. on days that are warm but not super hot, and it will be PERFECT for shoulder-season lunch runs (i.e., 45-65 degrees but full, direct sun), even at a faster pace. For faster, harder workouts in warmer temperatures, I'd pick a short sleeve and arm sleeves— and I'm definitely considering getting a Jade short sleeve for that purpose.
Two requests for Oiselle for the next iteration: (1) Could you put a lighter-weight or mesh fabric in the pits/under the arms for a little more air flow? (I think that tweak alone would make the Jade longsleeve MUCH cooler and more versatile.) (2) How about a lighter color that is in the blues or greens, or maybe a gray? In the meantime, thanks for making this in a more brooding, understated, mauve-ish hue for those of us who violently despise pink athletic wear— and for offering a nice dark blue, though I ended up going for the lark color despite my reservations because dark blue just seemed too hot. (And I'm not tidy enough for white anything!)
Also: The "watch window" is one of my favorite Oiselle things, so glad to have it on this shirt!
If it helps others: I am just shy of 5'7", 120-125 pounds, 34B or 32C in regular bras, and the size 2 was on the loose end of just right.
