FLYOUT WOOL LONG SLEEVE
The buzz on this fabric is high. It's been a much anticipated release at The Nest, as staffers touch, feel, and wear test. Known as the "Swiss Army knife" of technical knits, Flyout Wool is truly one of the most versatile fabrics we've offered. Its secret sauce is its construction AND Merino Wool blend. It wicks moisture just as wonderfully as our regular Flyout. But with 30% Merino Wool, it's also warmer, so you can either stay cool or warm up, depending on your climate. This long sleeve silhouette is a classic crew, with slight shaping, and extra long cuffs that include our Watch Window, so you can instantly view your running watch without tugging and pulling at sleeves and cuffs.
- watch window on both sleeves
- 24.5" body length (size 4)
Love this shirt! Excellent base layer for running, and I’ve even been wearing it as my skiing base layer so far this winter! I do think it could be longer, mine tends to hike up and even not hiked up it’s a little short. I like my shirts loose so I got a size 10, I’m 5’7” and 170lbs.
The flyout wool is my new workhorse long sleeve (sorry, Flyte!). How can something so light and delicate be so reliably warm, comfortable, and not stink after repeated wearing? The Flyout Wool long sleeve is perfect on it's own and layered underneath a cycling jersey, or vest, or jacket. My favorite winter combo is flyoutwool tank under the long sleeve. This top does amazing to wick away moisture from sweat or moisture from rain jackets. I did order up a size in one of the long sleeves specifically to layer underneath. My only negative thing is that the seams at the watch window separated very early in it's life with me. Fortunately the split at the seam hasn't worsened and I am extra careful. This fabric is non-irritating. If I had to pick only one long sleeve this would be it. I have even worn it in non-winter temps and did not overheat.
This material has a fantastic feeling - definitely keeps you warm whether you layer or not (I ran in 34 degrees with just it on top - it was fine). The watch hole is wonderful, but I wish there was some mechanism to close the side you don't want to have a watch hole on. Certainly not a deal breaker, but would be nice. The arms are plenty long and I don't usually find that. The only thing that keeps this from 5 stars for me is the odor wicking - I see so many reviews say it doesn't pick up funk, but mine picked up funk on the very first run and has held onto it. It smells worse than 5-year old running shirts I have. I don't plan to hug others while wearing it, so I can live with it. Part of why I bought it was the anti-stink I read about... wish it had come through for me like that. I'm 5'9" and 132 and the 4 was great.
I've always been a seasonal runner but 2020 has made me rethink that. As I transitioned to cooler weather running in the rainy PNW, I started looking for better gear. This shirt has been perfect! Wears well, keeps me warm without overheating and doesn't pick up a funk. Easy to wear alone or in layers. I've worn it from 36-50 degrees and been very comfortable. First bought the crackle orange color. It is quite sheer with my bra showing pretty well through the shirt. I figure my high waist pants and full coverage bra cover enough that the sheerness doesn't matter a lot to me. This could be a problem for others. Was gifted a second of these in the green. Much better coverage. I would give 5 stars if the shirts were less sheer and if they were longer. I'm 5'10" and could really use a few more inches in length. Ordered size 16/18 based on measurements and am otherwise happy with the fit.
I really love this shirt! The price is worth it but of course buy on sale if you can :) much warmer than the flyte but has all the great details: thumb and watch holes and is warm even though it feels thin. My only complaint is that I wish it came in more bolder colors!!!
Love this top! I wore this for a 39 degree run yesterday with no other layers and it was perfect. For colder weather, I will probably add another layer. I love the thumb holes and watch window (there's one on each arm so you could wear this as a lefty or righty). I wish they made this in other colors as well because I would buy more! I am 5'7, 140 lb, and the size 6 is perfect for me.
Love love love this top! Very lightweight but keeps you much warmer than you'd expect. I've worn this with an insulated jacket for running in MN winters temps and been very comfortable. Love the watch window and that the fit is just a bit more relaxed than oiselle tanks
This is a perfect shirt for chilly runs. I wear it alone in temps around 35° and as a layer in colder temps. I am 5’4” and 130lbs and got a 4. It is so flattering and cute and not scratchy at all. I get compliments every time I wear it. In fact, I am here to purchase another!
