I'm a plus-sized runner who consistently wears a size 20. I almost ordered these in a 20/22 and at the last second, I checked the size chart and realized I'd need a 24/26. The 24/26 size is perfect - I have run and walked many miles in them. It's a great short for plus sized runners, too! You can tell a lot of care and thought was put into making them fit plus sized bodies properly. I only took a point off for the inconsistent sizing.
I love everything about these shorts—length, rise, pockets, material—except the sizing is way off compared to other Oiselle bottoms. I almost exclusively run in Oiselle gear and size 6 has always been perfect for bottoms until these shorts. I purchased them in April and wore them for several long runs before I realized that the stomach/digestive issues I was having during/after runs were all occurring when I wore these shorts. Switched it up to another pair and I was fine. I'm pretty sure these were so right that they restricted my GI system. I want to try for another size (b/c, again, everything else is amazing about these shorts) but I'm not sure what size to go with, perhaps 2 sizes up (10 instead of my usual 6?) They're too expensive to keep ordering sizes only to find out after a long run that I can't keep wearing them.
Best running shorts ever. Usually I fit my phone and some doggie poop bags in the side pockets, BUT on marathon days I can carry (seriously) a dozen supplements without weighting them down. AMAZING.
The waist on these shorts are ridiculously tight. I’m 5’1” and usually wear a 2-4 in pants and sized up after reading the reviews and they were still ridiculously tight. I was disappointed because they are pricey and I really wanted tights with pockets but I wouldn’t buy another pair of these again. They are also weirdly unflattering and really showcase muffin top.
There is so much about these shorts that is right up my alley: the abundance of pockets, cute but sleek/subtle styling, and the longer length. However, I have to agree with the other reviewers that have pointed out that the sizing is truly strange.
I have many pairs of Oiselle shorts and pants from over the past several years, most are a size 6 and fit so well and comfortably, even after many many uses (my fave thing about Oiselle is how much use I typically get out of all my items). I also a have one other pair of Oiselle shorts in a size 8 that are comfortable but definitely baggy, that I enjoy for lounging around. With this in mind and having read the reviews that say these Long Pocket Jogger shorts run small, I ordered an 8 thinking they would fit great. I could barely squeeze into them to try them on, they were so uncomfortably tight! I returned those and thought that was it for me and these shorts. Then I recently saw them at my local running store and decided to try the size 10. I'm keeping them because I've now worn them a few times. But as soon as I wore them on a harder run, I could feel that they were still way too tight, and with the super high waist, it's like I feel them squeezing my diaphragm and restricting my breathing. Not what I'm looking for on the run! I think they look great and hopefully I can get my money's worth by wearing them for walks or shorter/easier runs, but I still find myself choosing my other Oiselle bottoms (that fit much more comfortably despite being 2 sizes smaller) most of the time.
I was excited to see Oiselle expanding some of their products to be more size-inclusive (we runners come in all shapes and sizes!), but this makes me wonder if they are shrinking their sizing overall.
If you really really take these sizing quirks into account when purchasing, maybe these could be a great short for you!
I was just surging items at a show store today and they had long pocket jogger shorts. I thought "is it for real???" Where was this brand all these days that met ALL my need ? I don't wear short shorts so this was perfect length and FINALLY someone thought about putting pocket for women, that too not one , so many. True to size too . I am not buying any other brand anymore. Thank you
This is my first item from Oiselle, so I was not acquainted with the size chart. I'm 5'4", 132 pounds, 27" waist, 38" hips, 22" single hip widest circumference. Many girls write here that these shorts run a bit small and can be too compressing and even suffocating. I had my choice between 6 and 8 and settled on smaller side. Fortunately I did not order a size bigger — size 6 sits quite loosely (especially in the waist, as I have flat belly and no "love handles"). Feels like I could put on a couple of kilos, and this pair will still fit. Personally I prefer tights being tight and compressive. In addition I didn't like the fabric — it's thick, heavy, good only for cool weather. And cat hair sticks to it! Apart from this, shorts are nice — good length, no chafing and riding up, pockets can hold everything you need on the run.
Let me preface this by saying that I don’t love the high waisted leggings/shorts trend because they don’t tend to work on my body. I’m 5’10 and 155 lbs in a postpartum body. The regular length compression shorts are too short. The long are too long. Please give me a 6” inseam. I would love a mid rise but I know that’s too much to ask these days! I also would like a thinner fabric which I realize is a bizarre request. I think I was just overwhelmed with the amount of fabric - so high and so long. Way too much fabric for me during summer runs. Maybe I’d change my mind if it was cooler out. That being said, they looked great. I ordered my normal size 6 (in other brands) and think a 4 would fit better. I can see why people love these, but I have to pass.
