FLYOUT WOOL LONG SLEEVE
The buzz on this fabric is high. It's been a much anticipated release at The Nest, as staffers touch, feel, and wear test. Known as the "Swiss Army knife" of technical knits, Flyout Wool is truly one of the most versatile fabrics we've offered. Its secret sauce is its construction AND Merino Wool blend. It wicks moisture just as wonderfully as our regular Flyout. But with 30% Merino Wool, it's also warmer, so you can either stay cool or warm up, depending on your climate. This long sleeve silhouette is a classic crew, with slight shaping, and extra long cuffs that include our Watch Window, so you can instantly view your running watch without tugging and pulling at sleeves and cuffs.
- watch window on both sleeves
- 24.5" body length (size 4)
This top is magic. I have never been anything but comfortable in it. On raw, rainy or snowy days in the winter, it's warm and cozy under a jacket. On sunny, warmer spring days, it's light and breezy on its own. Worth every penny. I alternate between S and XS and went with small in this (same size I wear in Flyte).
This is an awesome running shirt for cold, damp PNW weather. I was worried the wool might be itchy, but it's super soft, stretch and stays comfortably in place without riding up. Layers over a thin shirt for extra warmth or slim enough to fit under a jacket or vest. And once you warm up, you won't be overheated. Really, the absolute perfect winter running top.
This is my new favorite top for pretty much everything. I’ve run in 30deg in this top, paired with gloves and a fleece headband, with no problem and no need for additional layers; it’s like magic! For 25-30, pairing it with a Flyte tank underneath is perfect, and it’s going to be great as a base layer for even colder temps ahead.
The fit/length is relaxed but not too baggy in the torso, and just right for my height (5’6”). The arms are considerably more fitted, so rolling them up isn’t really an option, at least for me. The fabric is super soft and cozy, making it a great everyday top too. The watch window is amazing and should be a feature in every long sleeve.
If debating between this and the Flyout LS, this is definitely warmer and more roomy, so better for layering with a tank or two underneath. Flyout LS is closer to the skin and you feel the windchill a bit more, but the sleeves are easier to pull up as you get warm. I’d do Flyout LS down to about 35-40deg, and wool for colder.
The one con is that the fabric does snag easily, so be aware of that if you’re running on singletrack trails with dense foliage.
This is my go-to long sleeve shirt. As much as I love the look and feel of the Flyte long-sleeve, it just gets too stinky for me over time. So I switched to wool and THANK YOU! No stink.
My only complaint is that this shirt seems to snag easily. Nothing that impacts the functionality of the shirt. Purely cosmetic.
I love this top! To be honest, I bought it as a wear-around-the-home base layer for when I'm freezing. It's less merino wool than I anticipated, but the pits don't stink after days of repeated wear, so I love it and I will buy more in size 4 (which is very fitted for me at 32F which I like; size up if you want more room. I'd love to see more colors!
I wanted to love this top. It has great features and is great fabric, but it is so short I don't feel comfortable wearing it as an outer layer without a tank underneath. Supposedly the length of this top only differs in length by .25in to the flyte tops, but that is very inaccurate. Pictured below is the flyout wool in size 4 with a tank underneath and the flyte long sleeve in an xs. There is at least a 3 in difference.
I love the Wazzie Wool long sleeve so much more. Returning this one and getting another one of those. The watch window is way better since they moved it a bit, but I like the fit of the Wazzie Wool a lot better. The Flyout seems a bit small... the tank fits perfect, but this is a bit tighter across the chest and at my waist than a lot of other tops of the same size from Oiselle. Great material though!!
Just received my turquoise shirt in the mail. I have freakishly long arms and their length is perfect for me. I wore it around the house with my Garmin showing. :) I am 5'8" and ordered a medium. I could've gone with the small, but I do like to layer up, so it is a great fit. 40s in the morning-a great day for a test drive!
