What is your favorite quote that guides, inspires, or embodies your training/racing/life?
“When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe, then you will be successful” –Eric Thomas
What was your favorite sport in middle school?
In middle school my favorite sport was track—wish I had a really cool story about loving other sport, but I don’t. I played basketball and soccer in middle school, but I’ve always been excited about running. (I enjoyed beating the guys on my team.)
Can you share your first sports bra experience?
So I don’t exactly have an amazing first sports bra story. I was so anxious as a teenager to develop some stuff to fill in a sports bra, and the “stuff” just never really came. However, I felt so empowered and woman-like when my mom bought me my first three sports bras from the Mervyn’s in Madera. (I was ridiculously happy about it.) I had one grey, one black, and one white sports bra. And when I wore them, they were like my invincibility shield—No one was about to stop me in my sports bra.
What is your absolutely favorite piece of #flystyle and why?
TOUGH QUESTION! My absolute favorite piece of #flystyle would have to be the Verrazano bra during workouts…But I love to chill in my Lesko bra….and I really love the Mini Stride shorts.
If you could give one piece of advice to a 12 year old girl, what would it be?
My advice to a 12 year old girl is, learn to love yourself. Beauty isn’t what the magazines and what the reality tv shows are showing you. You don’t have to look or dress a certain way to be considered beautiful. Ambition, self-worth, respect, discipline—that’s what’s beautiful. And your beauty will shine.
Tell us about your favorite place you have ever traveled to:
I traveled with my brother and my Tia to Yucatan when I was 15 years old. It was reward for doing so well in school. It was absolutely gorgeous; runs on the clear beach with my brother early in the morning were my favorite.
What alternative career do you fantasize about?
I fantasize about being a business woman. I would love to have my own Jazz Club/Restaurant and have some of the hottest musicians come a few times a month and perform. Maybe in LA, or on a beach pier, or in a cultural downtown spot.
What is your superpower?
My superpower is that I can help kids believe in themselves. (Oh yeah and my body grew a little human.)
