Santa Barbara Wedding Weekend
This weekend I’m jetting off to Santa Barbara for a running wedding. Yes...a running wedding! So many awesome events are happening, but the best of all is what’s going down at the Santa Barbara Wine Country Half Marathon on Saturday...bride to be, Erica Kinser will be the first to race in the Oiselle redesigned Runaway Bride Dress!
Little did I know before I came to Oiselle, race day weddings have been around for years. Where the bride and groom to be wed stop mid race, exchange their vows and complete the race as husband and wife. And of course you need the right duds to pull that off! That's where Oiselle comes in. Hats off to our design team, I saw sneak peeks of the dress (and bridesmaid dresses) when Emiy stopped by HQ and they are stunning. Wicking fabric, detailed stitching, and all the bells and whistles you need for racing and “wedding.”
So what’s on tap for this weekend? Wine country racing, a wedding at mile 6, expo’ing with Santa Barbara Running Company (I can’t wait to meet you all!), wine tasting and a whole lot of snapping photos along the way.

Friday, May 9th
2:00pm: Wine Country Half Expo with Santa Barbara Running Co.
6:00pm: Pre-race dinner at Crossroads Estates, Firestone Vineyards
Saturday, May 10th
7:00am: Half marathon start. Bride and groom married at mile 6!
9:30am: Wine and music festival at Solvang Park
2:00pm: Finisher party
Sunday, May 11th
10:00am: Flying back to the nest!

Core Routine For Runners: The Dozen
I was introduced to the "The Dozen" in the winter of 2012 by my favorite Oregon running family. I love this set of core exercises for its efficient targeting of core muscle groups, and because no gym equipment is required! You can do this on a grass field, in your hotel room, or really anywhere you can lay on a flat surface.
Reflecting on the Year of the Underbird
This past August, we launched our Year of the Underbird program: an open application for aspiring Olympic Trials marathoners, with a promise to select 5 women for a 6 month contract encompassing a stipend, gear, storytelling, and community support.
