Do you have a quote that guides, inspires, or embodies your training/racing/life?
#alwaysplay: I borrowed this from my good friend, Sarah King, who I do a ton of road biking with!

What is your favorite post-race meal?
Food. Honestly, whatever's there. I'm not picky but I do like it to be a complete meal, balanced with protein, carbs and fats. I usually like to find myself a cold beer after a late night race!

What is your must-have piece of running gear?
I would have to say good socks! There is nothing worse than a bad sock. Like when it falls down under your heel in your shoe. Or when they are too thick and your feet cook. Or the kind that have a high friction coefficient and you get a horrible blister: ouch!

Do you have a training philosophy?
Deliberate Play: It is borne out of the philosophy of 'Deliberate Practice' combined with fun. Over the years I've heard too many athletes say they quit because they were not having fun anymore. When I came back to training I wasn't afraid to work hard but I always find something about a workout or training session that was fun. I am surrounded by an amazing set of teammates who ensure that is always positive.

What is your favorite place to run?
The Toronto Trail Network, starting at Sherwood Park, through Sunnybrook Park and to the Beltline Trail. Everywhere I to travel I have always found a great network of running; it is amazing what you uncover in a city when you go running through it.

Why do you run?
I run to find that effortless feeling, where you feel like you could go forever. It's made even better if it's on a trail where you are not distracted by the usual sounds of a city, but when you can be completely lost in your thoughts and what your'e doing.

What is your favorite workout?
I like suffering. Well not all of the time, but when you're done there is something so satisfying when you know you've completed something really hard. We do these intervals with 30 seconds rest. In one workout, we do sets of 600-200 and you just want to crawl into a ball after set #4 (Oh, and you're trying to run your 800 personal best! And the 30 seconds doesn't feel like recovery, you just feel the lactic burning in your legs!)

What is your favorite activity besides running?
Alpine Skiing, fresh pow or a GS course, bluebird sky on a crisp day...
