Do you have a quote that guides, inspires, or embodies your training/racing/life?
I've learned that balance is the key to success in all aspects of life, especially with running. Without balance, it's geniunely harder to find complacency and - more importantly - happiness.
Why do you run?
I run for the runners high; I love seeing how hard I can push myself, and to lose myself in a run. Meeting personal running goals is addicting, and I run to get myself there. Running also makes me confident, and gives me a body that I can feel proud about. It introduces me to people I NEVER would have met otherwise, and it has become a true part of my identity.
What is your favorite place to run?
My hometown, Skaneateles, NY. In high school, we used to have names for our running routes, and my favorite routes were "County Line" (left and right side) and "Jon Riley," after the Olympian who briefly attended my high school.
Running gear you can't live without?
I mostly run alone, so I'd be a lonely soul without my pink IPod shuffle.
What is your favorite local running store?
Fleet Feet in Syracuse, NY.
When you're not running where would we find you?
On my front porch or at my in-law's shore house on the Long Island Sound.
What is your favorite post-race treat?
Burger and beer or a massive bagel with cream cheese, lox, tomato, onion, and lettuce.
Complete the sentence: If I was stranded in a hotel room with one movie and one book, they would be…
