Do you have a quote that guides, inspires, or embodies your training/racing/life?
"The brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don't want it badly enough.
Why do you run?
I run for so many reasons, but the main being clarity for myself. Running whether it be a mile or 15 miles brings a sense of calm and it helps me to see life and situations in a different perspective. It helps me to appreciate the little things that sometimes I take for granted. It helps clear up the fog of everyday life that sometimes sets in. When I hit the start line on a race day, I always remind myself that running is a gift, even on my half marathon and long run training days. I reflect on the fact that there are so many people that would love to be able to use their legs and run, yet can't. I run for them. I run for anyone that thinks that they can't run, because that use to be me, I was that person. I feel that thru my obstacles, I am proof that you can be "a runner", you just have to believe in yourself. I was not born the runner I have become, I have made myself the runner that I am.
What is your favorite place to run?
Trinity Park in Downtown Fort Worth. You get the scenic views of the Trinity Trails plus an amazing view of Downtown Fort Worth.
What is your favorite local running store?
Luke's Locker in Fort Worth and Dallas.
When you're not running where would we find you?
Cliché as it sounds, being a mama and a wife with a cup of coffee in hand. At a playground, a school function, a theme park, a mall. I'm just your average gal, that loves to lace up and be on the go. Oh, and I love Pinterest!
What is your favorite post-race treat?
I love Sprinkles cupcakes, a good Chipolte burrito, or a burger and fries. Not all at the same time of course, but I like choices: I'm not ashamed.
