Do you have a quote that guides, inspires, or embodies your training/racing/life?
“Put your head down and do the same thing consistently for a long period of time. Eventually, you become successful at it. For runners, the key thing is to do that and remain healthy." Walt Drenth - MSU Cross Country Coach
Why do you run?
Running is the most simple, pure way to be an athlete. I don't need a ton of equipment or fancy facilities; I can just go there and test myself day after day on my own two legs. Nothing clears my mind and puts me in a better mood than a fantastic run or race!
What is your favorite place to run?
I love Pre's Trail in Eugene, Oregon and run there every time I visit my parents back at home. In Colorado, I love to head up Magnolia Road outside of Boulder for a good challenge. There is little auto traffic up there, the hills are steep, and the views are amazing.
Running gear you can't live without?
Oiselle Roga Shorts, GPS watch, and Newton shoes. If I'm having a hard time getting myself out the door on any particular day, I'll grab my hot pink iPod Shuffle as well.
What is your favorite local running store?
Runner's Roost in Denver carrries Oiselle products, so I shop there a lot. Also, the Newton Running Lab in Boulder is a great place to buy shoes from the person who designs and makes them which is unique and awesome.
When you're not running where would we find you?
You could probably find me at one of two places in Denver. Most likely, I'm at DSST: Stapleton Middle School teaching reading and writing to 6th graders. If I'm not at work, I am probably at a dog park with my two furry beasts, Bailey and Delilah.
What is your favorite post-race treat?
I can't get enough of the breakfast sandwiches at Starbucks paired with whatever seasonal drink I'm addicted to at the time. Also, when I can get my hands on them, I consume Picky Bars like nobody's business.
