Do you have a quote that guides, inspires, or embodies your training/racing/life?
"If you can't excel with talent, triumph with effort." - Stephen Weinbaum

Why do you run?
I was given a desire to run. That desire stemmed from that awkward, tormenting time we call adolescence. Since that point in time I have run to be a better person, put myself through college, and show myself that I can still set and achieve goals: my running career doesn't have to be over just because I work a full-time job and am still adapting to a new, post-baby body.

What is your favorite place to run?
Since I live in a small town and find myself running the same country roads day after day, I savor the ability to run anywhere new. I love that you only need your running shoes and you can find a place to run anywhere your adventures take you. Some of my favorite runs this summer have been the hilly roads in New Hampshire and Vermont and the long winding dirt roads near my chilhood home in Colorado.

Running gear you can't live without?
A watch! I absolutely need to know how far I have gone. Although I have a GPS watch, I still love the simplicity of a watch that only tells you your total time and nothing else! Also, a good pair of socks: one of my biggest pet peeves while running is when your socks start slipping and bunching up in your shoes: this has caused many mid-run freak outs!

What is your favorite local running store?
Performance Running Outfitters - Oconomowoc, WI. They have always been so helpful with our personal or high school team goals. The manager is an inspirational runner and all-around really great guy.

When you're not running where would we find you?
In my classroom teaching 7th grade language arts or chasing around my two-year old daughter, Auralia.

What is your favorite post-race treat?
Cherry Coke! I don't know why, but this habit started in college and I really can't kick it! After a marathon I have also been known to snarf down some rather large cheeseburgers.

Complete the sentence: If I was stranded in a hotel room with one movie and one book, they would be…
Dead Poets Society: as a language arts teacher, this one gets my every time! Tuesday's Days with Morrie: I have had several influential individuals in my life and I don't take nearly enough time to stop and reflect on how these people have shaped me and many life lessons they have taught along the way.
