Why do you run?
I run because doctors once told me I wouldn't be able to walk and I took that as a challenge, not a limit; and because I absolutely love the feeling of flying.
Do you have a quote that guides, inspires, or embodies your training/racing/life?
“If you’re too afraid to fall, you’ll never know what it feels like to fly” -Unknown
What is your favorite place to run?
The Arizona Trail, especially the sections that run along the top of Walnut Canyon.
What is your favorite post-race treat?
Homemade granola bread. YUM!
What is your favorite local running store?
Lincoln Running Company in Lincoln, NE where I grew up.
Running Gear You Can't Live Without?
My GPS. I’m one of “those” people who obsesses over knowing their exact mileage and pace. It’s a terrible vice of mine.
Where would we find you when you're not running?
Enjoying the great outdoors of Flagstaff by hiking or rock climbing.
Complete the sentence: If I was stranded in a hotel room with one movie and one book, they would be…
The movie would probably have to be “Stardust” (such a cute fairy-tale love story!) but picking a book is harder because all through college I didn’t have much time for pleasure reading. I guess I would pick “The Well-Dressed Ape,” a sort of nature guide to the human animal, which I’m reading right now, because it’s a good mix of humor and interesting educational information.
